  7. This documents contains information regarding the plotter drivers included in MacSign 4.0 which were not inserted in the user’s guide.

  11. •HOW TO CONNECT
  12.  
  13. The most important thing when connecting a plotter is making sure that you are using the same parameters both on the plotter and on the Macintosh. If even only one parameter is different the connection will probably fail.

  15. -When connecting the plotter with the Macintosh make sure that both are turned off, then connect them. Check below how to choose the right cable for your plotter;
  16. -Turn on the plotter and set the serial communication parameters on it. Please refer to the plotter’s user guide to learn how to use the plotter,
  17. -Open MacSign and choose Plotter Setup. A dialog box will appear, choose the driver needed for your plotter and set the communication parameters as you did on the plotter.

  19. • NOTE ON USING ROLAND CAMM-1 PLOTTER

  21. Remember to set the plotter in HP-GL emulation (COMMAND MODE 2) and the plotter axes origin at the lower left corner (FREE-Y or ROTATE0 mode). For a detailed description of these procedures refer to the user's guide given with the peripheral.
  22. To connect a Roland CAMM-1 to a Macintosh you can use the cable included in your MacSign. If you have to create your own cable use this pin layout:

  35. Remember to set the plotter to GP-GL emulation (see DIP-SWITCHES), the software resolution (see DIP-SWITCHES, program step size) and the plotter axes origin at the lower left corner. For a detailed description of these procedures we refer to the user's guide provided with the peripheral.
  36. To connect a Graphtec to Macintosh you can use the connection cable included in your MacSign package or a serial interface cable will have to be made:

  47. • NOTE ON USING SEI PLOTTERS

To connect a SEI plotter to MacSign, you need, besides the connection cable which is supplied with the application, also an adapter cable (Canon DB25 female - Canon DB9 male or Canon DB25 female - Canon DB25 male, according the model) that must be expressly required. This adapter must be used only when you connect a SEI plotter, placing it between the standard cable (so you have to use it again) and the SEI plotter. Also, you can use a serial interface cable will have to be made (according the model):

  68. • NOTE ON USING DATAFONT PLOTTERS

  70. The default Communication parameters usually are: 9600 baud, 8 bit, 2 stop bit, Hardware Handshake and Parity none. These parameters must be set also into the Plotter Setup command dialog box.

To connect DATAFONT plotter to MacSign, you need, besides the connection cable  supplied with the application, also an adapter cable (Canon DB25 female - Canon DB25 male) that must be expressly required. This adapter must be used only when you connect a DATAFONT plotter, placing it between the standard cable (so you have to use it again) and the DATAFONT plotter. Also you can use a serial interface cable will have to be made:

  84. Remember to set the plotter in DM/PL emulation (for those models, such as i.e. DMP-69C and DMP-100C, that support the HP-GL emulation too) and the addressing resolution. For a detailed description of these procedures we refer to the user's guide provided with the peripheral.

To connect Houston Instrument plotter to MacSign, you need, besides the connection cable supplied with the application, also an adapter cable (Canon DB25 female - Canon DB25 female) that must be expressly required. This adapter must be used only when you connect a Houston Instrument plotter, placing it between the standard cable (so you have to use it again) and the Houston Instrument plotter. Also you can use a serial interface cable will have to be made:
